Windscreen wiper idler Bearing : Point of Originality

Post by Clive Sherriff » Sun May 26, 2019 12:33 pm

Today's discovery. It seems that all the suppliers are currently making this out of 1/2 (0.500) inch A/F hexagonal bar. (this is the bit that goes through the windscreen to hold the wiper on the driver's side ~ Moss part No 160-600) . For the TA TB TC it should be made from 0,525 inch A/F bar which is the hexagonal size for 5/16 BSF, and the head and nut size of our dreaded but much loved Mad Metric bolts. The TD went to AF sizes and so as there are far more TDs on the roads, our beloved suppliers have rationalised and all seem to use the easier to source and cheaper 0.500 AF bar. The later TDs even had two ! Ok, it's only 0.025", and the BSF spanner will make a sort of OK sloppy fit, but watch out at the next Concours : I'll be watching !
