Re: Gray paint code for TC firewall [1 Attachment]
Steve,
I found the exact same low gloss grey when I disassembled TC 1862 forty six years ago and repainted it the same light grey as in your photo. For years people insisted that it should be either khaki green or body color until Mike Sherill came to the US for a GOF at Hershey, PA in the late 80s and told me that it was the only early TC that he had seen in the US painted the correct light grey.

When I restored TC2911 I found that the firewall had been painted as many times and colors as the body. However; the firewall had never been separated from the body given the very rusty condition of the lower bolts. Therefore when I unbolted the firewall from the front body timbers exposing the back side of the flange that goes all the way around it, I found a light gray, low gloss paint. Sort of like a typical light gray primer, but with a bit of gloss, I saw no tint of green or blue. However this is not to say that different paints were used based upon what was available at the time. I simply repainted a light gray Rustoleum shade inside and out available as a standard Rustoleum rattle can color. Steve TC2911
