Mounting a hi torque gear reduction starter

Post by Allan Chalmers » Mon Aug 20, 2018 9:56 am

Has anyone mounted one of these starters?  We are trying on a '46 TC with a Datsun steering box mod and it doesn't want to go.
The starter is a nice small size, but it is offset and contacts the block or the steering column.  It is very adjustable but still has a fit problem.
Thanks,  Allan Chalmers TA, TC

Allan, I have one mounted and I have a Datsun box but I m not home to take a photo.   As I remember you can loosen the motor from the mount and rotate it to the position needed to clear everything. Best regards,Gene Gillam Sent from my iPhone

I have one for my TA, which was a prototype for a company in Cincinnati; I ve still got the original in the car

And they made some changes for a better fit, later, to their production model (standard steering). Jan/Fairfield
