Neil, Here s a crude wiring diagram I made when I installed an 8 post MGA relay on my TC. I made my own schematic so I could easily print out a copy to keep in the car. Ignore the comment about Pulse Flasher. That s a modern aftermarket gadget my son sells that makes your brake lights flash three times when you first step on the pedal. Just wire the brake light switch to post 5. I have separate indicator bulbs on my dash (PO installed in the 1950s?) to indicate right or left turn signal. If you have a single indicator light you ll need a three post flasher unit with the third post specifically designed for an indicator light. (Not all three post flashers work that way. I learned the hard way. Buy a flasher from a vintage MG parts supplier.) Hope this helps. Steve Fellow MGTers,I have a head puzzling problem with the installation of turn signals on my restoration project 47 TC.All parts are new. Lights, harness, relay, switch and flasher. It has an EXU wiring harness using a single 8 post relay system. Two high mount lights on the gas tank and two D lights lower down on the frame plate. Here is the problem..I have parking lights and brake lights working just fine. And the turn signals work properly on the right side of the car. But, when the switch is turned to the left turn position all lights flash. All front turn signals and all rear signals. It's like I have hazard flashers going in the left turn position.I have checked the wiring on the relay and it appear s to be correct according to the wiring diagram I received with the harness. I have checked the switch and it seems to be wired correctly. There was a jumper from the left turn post and the ground post for the switch light. I had to remove it to get the right turn lights to flash correctly. (The wiring diagram that Doug Pelton has on his tech tips does not show any such jumper). It does show a jumper connection between the power in post and another along side it and this connection is internal to the switch and obviously is there as I am getting power to the left side when I select left turn. I know this is getting long and complicated so I will summarize by saying... right turn works, left turn makes hazard flashers all around.Am I dealing with a bad relay? Something not connected correctly? I am at a loss for ideas on how to narrow it down... I cannot find a schematic of the 8 post relay to try to determine what might be wrong inside it.Neil NelsonFleming Island, FLTC 4161On Jun 3, 2018, at 12:21, Steve Tom steventtom@aol.com [mg-tabc] mg-tabc-noreply@yahoogroups.com> wrote:
