FYI, I bought a BendPak 4 post lift from Best Buy. I love it. Here are some tips, or things to think about:
(1) I got the 110V one. Yes, it is apparently slower. But, I don't notice it. The best part is that I didn't have to have my garage rewired. I just plug it into the wall socket when needed.
(2) We live in So Cal, not that far from BendPak. They won't sell to the public. But through Best Buy, I was able to pick it up at the factory. There are a lot of things to be aware of:
(3) You need to rent a long UHaul type truck. The rack is all bound together in a narrow package - but it's very long.
(4) The parts are REALLY heavy. They load the whole thing on your truck with a fork lift. Once we got home, we figured we'd take it off one piece at a time. Well, we did that. For most parts it was feasible. But the ramps (aka runways) were much more than we expected. Two very strong guys couldn't do it. We had to use floor jacks and ingenuity to lift it and wheel it off. Even then it was a real struggle. I'd suggest at least 4 or more guys and very strong dollies.
(5) Putting it together wasn't all that bad. It probably would have been faster if we hired one of those installers who were at BendPak when we picked it up. But we were trying to save as much money as possible.
(6) I did not bolt it into the slab. I've heard differing opinions on it. For now, that's what I'm doing.
(7) They have plastic trays that go between the ramps/runways to catch oil. I got two. Worth the money.
(8) In the end, money well spent. My Tiger is up on it for now. I do use ratcheting straps to strap the car down to the ramps/runways. We are in earthquake country. I've asked around and haven't heard of any problems. But, just in case, I'd like a little help to stop the car from bouncing enough sideways to fall off.
(9) Oh, I could not get the narrow rails one because in my garage, the garage door had to fit between the posts. So the narrow one would have not allowed be to open the garage.
