Walter, I bought a Don hood for the TC about 12 Yr. ago when I rebuilt it. Double Duck, beige. Good quality but it still took a lot of finishing and careful fitting to get it right. It has lasted well but I keep it erected and covered when not using the car. Maybe what they are now offering are not as good. If I was doing it again I would only use single duck as it is almost never called on to serve it's real purpose (i'm sure you will all agree that driving a T type with the hood erected is no fun). I am sure that, being more flexible, single duck would stow better and probably be easier to erect. Ian Thomson. ----------

Walter, there is another comany close to Birmingham Aldridge Trimming whose work is some of the best you can find, but I suspect that the best way to get a hood that fits really well,is to take the car to the trimmer and have the hood made and final fitted to the car. Aldridge Trimming will definately do this, but last time I took a job there they had about 6 months waiting time and 25 or so cars in the workshops, and of course, they are in UK!! if you need their details let me know and I will oblige Alan Webster TA 3239

Hi Walter I too have recently fitted a Don hood and screens. I agree with Ian on the matter of material weight, the double duck tends to be too thick to stow easily and also makes fitting quite demanding although I am quite pleased with the results that I achieved, the finished product scores about 80% in my eyes. Maybe better to use Wigan which I am sure Don will supply for you. You need to be specific about the rear window and give them a drawing or they will make it a bit larger than original I think. Incidentally, I believe that Don supply hoods to at least one major retailer who probably sell at a higher cost. Don is certainly economical and I believe they give good value for money. It is possible that you would get a little better quality from Mr Collingburn but I am basing this assumption on his reputation. The best, but most expensive situation is to take your car to a trimmer, but if you are like me you may want to do it yourself, I sewed up my tonneau cover but I don't think I'm quite ready for a hood yet!
