Cross tube

Post by R.F.Butson » Fri Apr 26, 2002 10:40 am

TA0844 has a badly corroded bracket above the cross tube that supports the front of the rear spring, apart from removing the four rivets, what is involved in removing / replacing this bracket? Someone must have had this problem. All replies gratefully received...Bob. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Try to avoid unriviting. In rebuilding the TA last year I found the same on my body outriggers, but by cutting back carefully with an angle grinder I reached good thickness metal (one usually does) . I made up the new outrigger to the original pattern - cut it back to fit the original "good Metal" line and welded it in place Ive done this on a number of chassis with great success. Careful Post weld fettling means the join is invisable. Regards Clive ==================================================
