Good-day Group: I have a two questions to be addressed at this time, with the Group's indulgence that is . 1. The four ( 4 ) 1/2 tonneau studs placed around the rear q-panels appear to be about 1" down from where the sheet metal folds over the wood frame pieces but the few cars about here are all different. Can some one let me know ( and I know they were hand built so variences will be many ) roughly where the forward studs are located ? I know the general area but I am not too sure. The rear two studs ,I believe , from photos , are outboard of the rear body shell apron seams , on the rear q-panels , but at what distance ? The tonneau I have does not have any directions or lock plates installed , to guage these locations , so I turn to the Group. 1948 TC # 6768 2. The set screws that lock the badge bar , in the brackets , are my next items of interest . On my TC , I have two ( 2 ) actual set screw style fasteners . They are , I believe , 1/4" - BSW , 1-1/2" long , and chromium plated brass . They have a very thick , round , slot , head , and the internal tip is pointed , similar to that of a bleeder screw . As most of the cars I have seen have hex-headed cap screws fulfilling these capacities , do I have some one's creativity at work , or are these correct items ? Sorry to be a nuisance but these Q's have been with me for some while and I felt this may help me out . By the by : I enquired a little while back if anyone in the Group had any info. on a Mr. Harry Rummins who had been with MG and had come out to California and as Tom McCahill wrote of him--" did more to put this car over with Americans than any other ten men in the Nuffield organization"-- ( Mechanix Illustrated, July 1950 ). Jack If you already have your half tonneau, then I suggest that you let it determine the position for your front fixings, You want the fixing to be about one inch from the front of the valence to look OK, whether or not it is exactly where the original fixing was would not seem to be important since it will probably be seen with the tonneau more than any other situation. Fixing bolts for the badge bar are painted hex heads as original, I believe, as were all the bolt heads fixing the front apron, although most have changed to stainless steel, a sensible option in my view, but I am not in the O.P. Good-day Group: A while ago I had problems with my turn signal system and had installed a new styled Lucas # 33117 relay box. The one with the little plastic covered bits inside. To my amazement, in wiring it up in the same order as the original, the thing delivered me a four-way flashing procedure and nothing else. Since then I have refurbished an 1951 relay box, but I cannot remember from where I obtained the newer box. I know that electrical parts are not too well covered, by any safeguards, after they have been subjected to a power source, but I should like to ask the Group the following. Is there some way one can e-mail or otherwise contact the Lucas works with the intention of sending the suspect unit back for inspection or replacement? Please contact me, off web, with any suggestions, unless the information is thought to be of general interest and would benefit the TABC Group as a whole.
