Drag link and Tie Rod

Have just received a new tie rod and drag link. The drag link is hollow with plugs in the end. The tie rod is made of solid bar. Is this correct, or should the tie rod be hollow too? Does it make a difference?

As far as I know both trackrod and draglink should be hollow.

I suppose the solid version will still function the same, but of course it's heavier.
