Hi All, As the topic has gone onto timing lights and also settings I wonder if the more "Tuning Wise" members could help me. Since rebuilding my TB and it is now run in I have found it does not pull up hills like I remember! This could be in part due to myself being of a more portly nature than previous, but not completely . I hope. I retained the AEG122 camshaft and 1/12 carbs and wondered what the timing should be set at? Should it be set static or otherwise, also should I have the head reworked and fitted with larger valves? Maybe I should have changed the camshaft as this one could be too "Hot" Yours Ron Benson.

Ron: The TB should be just the same as the TC and TD. Using the AEG 122 cam should use a diftributor that maxes at about 27 degrees There use to be a special distributor available for this cam. Again using about 5 BTDC set statically. A lot would depend on your compression ratio. If it is stock, using the AEG 122, then your power would be zip. As you go bigger on the cam, you have to increase the compression to use the added duration, and lift. Also, it makes a difference if you use stock manifolding, vs. a extractor unit. for needles, I would try GJ first.Stay away from the LS1 needles, which are for a MK2. These are way too rich in the cruise range. Skip Kelsey........................................
