Wing Mirrors

Dear Lords and Ladies; What is the considered opinion of the group about putting on wing mirrors on the TC. I notice on the membership pictures that only one member has the old style mirrors on his TC. Would this be detraction on aesthetics and value of the TC.Tally Ho! Thom Collins

While not original or correct, my wing mirrors have saved me more than once with the excellent visibility that afford. Next to a full blown racing mirror, they provide great viewing without detracting greatly from the appearance. WW Cordin TC 6749

Thom perhaps consider mounting Harley Davidson mirrors to the windscreen brackets, I saw this at GOF and it looked pretty good and you are not doing 500.00 dollars worth of damage to your fenders. There also was a fellow who made mirrors that replaced a windshield stanchion bolt, also saw at GOF in Binghamton NY but do not know who it was Joe Curto

I've stayed away from this option as I have been told that they are ineffective as they are so far from the driver that the images are too small and some do consider to be them a bit garish.

I have also found this to be absolutely true. On the other hand, my car was recently finished in the paint shop and I didn't ask that the holes be filled. Therefore, as far as I'm concerned, wing mirrors are neither useless nor garish but a necessity. Doug Pulver TC 5850

Could not agree more! My TC also has a period spot light mounted on the driver's side right below the windshield mounting bracket, making the traditional side mounted outside rear view mirror impossible to mount. I wouldn't trade my spot light for new fenders without wing mirror holes. WW Cordin TC 6749

A potential solution for the spotlight is to replace it with a Raydyot 570M which has a mirror. This would be very easy if your existing spotlight is a 570P ie the one with the handle.Have used a 570M on my YT for years and it works well.
