Hi all,
Trying to keep this messageMG orientated as we are in danger of becoming an
IT chat room!
Seriously though could the recent threads on replacement engine no,s
regarding AEG no,s refer to the type of camshaft? I have an AEG 122 cam in
the TB not original but the equvilant of a half race cam I believe.
Regards
Ron Benson. TB

Ron
Thanks for your input re replacement engines the ref no. on my engine
AEG12Aor2(difficult to decipheron the plate) could refer to the cam, as it
was rebuilt in 1990 for the Monte Carlo Challenge with a Shorrock
supercharger by Steve Baker and the cam could well have been changed? I
have not been able to find all thedetails of the mechanical rebuild these
are gradualy coming to light
Regards

Re: Digest Number 672 Replacement engines.
The BMC replacement engine plate has nothing to do with the 1990 rebuild
you mentioned. BMC no longer existed (at least not under thast name) in
1990, and had stopped supplying rebuilt XPAG engines MANY years earlier.
I'm not aware of an "AEG12A" or "AEG2A" camshaft. I'm more inclined to
believe it is the BMC part number for the rebuilt engine, but I have no
documentation to back up that belief.

Re: Digest Number 672 Replacement engines.
Chip,
I think you are correct. The part number AEG12A is similar to p/n in the
early 60's-late 50's for other rebult power units from BMC.
I believe that Leyland began to destroy BMC when they ate it in 1967-68.
