Ray,
Simply repair the spring by replacing it with a new one. I know it is not
quite that simple but it you are handy with spring steel, it is relatively
straightforward to fabricate one. I have repaired three caps so far, (one
TA and two TC)and each spring tab was different, enough so I could not
interchange spare spring units. Perhaps one of these spares will work with
your cap. It's yours for want of an address. Also, do you have any opinions
as to the best source for TA running board strips? The ones I bought 20 yrs
ago seem an inch or two long. I am not sure if they are TC or TA or whether
there is any difference. The TA does have 3 strips while the TC has only
two. Was aluminum original for a TA? Moss, Abingdon, or??. as sources?
Cheers, Lee Jacobsen

Lee, I got my strips from Naylor Bros. years ago and then didn't use them
when I left off the running boards and put on cycle wings. They fit
perfectly. The SA however had to have some of its strips shortened....easy
to do. Just take a look at the ones you have....they were all hand done.
Alloy was original. If you need some of the material, let me know as I has
some left over from the SA.
