>>Seeing as motorbiking is harder to get into (i.e.- finding a bike to
practice on is harder than finding a car), only the nice people will get into the sport, keeping our 'society' chock full of the fun friendly types.

Hi Doug, I bought the 2000 KLR650 in April and love it! I mostly ride off-road in the mountains and desert around Tucson with a bunch of XR400s and one XR650. They haven't gone anyplace I can't go and often I am riding when they are walking. I recieve many complements on the bike, especially from kids. They like the army scheme. Don't let the MSRP frighten you. The price has actually dropped the last couple of years. It is still cheaper than the bare-bones XRs. I recommend you make the standard mods right away when you buy it: Moose skid plate and bars, larger jets and open air box, and progessive fork springs. I don't know why Kawasaki doesn't just do the springs. They are sorely needed. I haven't put an aftermarket muffler on yet, but am considering the Supertrapp IDS2. It will make the biggest difference in power. I do agree with you on the '99 color scheme. Good luck on your purchase and I hope you get one soon. It is not a good thing to be without a KLR.
