My guess is that it is an 1985 model. The 1986 was electric start and I believe it said "Electric Start" somewhere on the bike. I could be wrong. Gino

Upon closer inspection, I'm almost positive it is an 86 as you can see the section of the left side case for the starter motor. Gino

You are correct, Gino. It is an 86. (it's mine). It has a 14t front sprocket, 43t rear, supertrapp race series can, 150 main jet, and will pull the front wheel with a twist of the wrist in 1st,2nd and 3rd. I am currently running IRC GP110's f/r. I sold my 86n shadow and 93 rmx 250 and bought this fine 86 with 9 k mi. My only regret is no rear disc, as i spend well more than half my time off pavement. Working on a conversion, I have an 87 complete rear brake set up, jus waiting for the rear wheel. The rack was purchased for the rmx, but has a weight rating of 500+ lbs, and the Dodge Ramcharger it is on cacn more than handle that load. I have several other pics of the rack if anyone is interested. The bike also has a Garmin GPS, an ICO Pro Comp 3 enduro computer, turn signal buzzer, mirrors from some street bike, short stalk front turn signals, and when this pic was taken, acooler oin the back for a cool six of Hacker Pschoor beer. Slightly wrong. The 84 600A1 was kick only. The 85 600B1 was the first electric-start in the ~600cc traillie class, which is much of the reason why I bought mine in Jan 86. Mister_T KLR600B1 Melbourne Australia

By the looks of your picture, you attached the bar to the top of the front fender? Is this correct? Please let us know how long the bulbs last. Last time I did this (83 Yamaha Vision) I was getting about 200 miles per bulb. Vibration was killing the bulbs. the nice thing about the installation is that you don't lose the light as you jam on the front brake, it's right where you're pointing. Looks good, just let us know. Take a look at this URL. http://cf.y42.photos.yahoo.com/bc/stfontaine_a15/lst?.dir=/KLR+- +lighting&.view=t I don't know how long the bulbs will last. They are 7$ canadian (around 5$US) each, so even if they last only few weeks, it's not very expensive. The total cost of my prototype is 50$ Cdn (33$ US) :) Stephane fontaine A15 --- In DSN_klr650@y..., "James L. Miller Jr." wrote:
