Had a fun week of riding.  Found couple of new trails and roads.  Weather was mostly great, a little on the cooler side and one day of wind.  Typical of the NV desert.  Riding buddy up is challenging in those deep sand washes.  Ya really get a workout!  New D606 Dunlops worked well, although I should have run less psi in the sand but the trade off with all the rocks and the added weight decided to keep it on the higher side.  Most of them are too tight to get up any speed so it's just 1st and 2nd gear most of the time.  Dumped it once, taking the radiator screen and pealing it out when the front wheel was turned.  Nothing a few zip-ties couldn't mend.  Luckily the protective bar around the radiator did it's job and the fan housing didn't get bent out of shape.  Not sure just how the screen got mangled and nothing else?  With a manual petcock it's important to remember to turn off the gas soon as something happens.  She was pretty flooded after picking up and trying to restart.  Saw dozens of beautiful antelope.  The desert has never looked so green.  Bit early for wild flowers but they'll surely come out blazing this year.  Monty "ride hard, shoot straight and always tell the truth" J. Last week, I went to a new restaurant here in San Antonio; never been there before. I memorized the block it was on, then headed off. While looking for the restaurant, I glanced off to the side too see what block I was on. When I look forward, two cars in front of me, the driver decided to make a sudden left turn.....and both cars in front of me came to a dead stop. I hit the brakes knowing that I would not be able to stop in time. The KLR started to skid sideways, and all I could do was hang on and wait for the impact. Unbelievably, about 6 inches from the car's bumper, I came to a dead stop. I hope you can learn from my silliness...... always look forward. Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android
