Today I took a 166 mile trip to Chaparral in San Bernardino. Had to drive a car because I was bringing home goodies. My first visit what a place. They have everything you need or want. I picked up two street tires Kenda 130/90-17 and 90/100-21 front tire. I mounted the rear and took it for a spin. Braking is much better and I dropped about 150 rpm with bigger tire. I will mount the front on Sunday but no ride it is Mother's Day. I also ordered a 39 tooth rear sprocket. I think everything will work-out. I slapped Challengers on my Tengai a couple weeks ago, but after a few hundred miles, I'm thinking about going back to the K270. The rear Challenger breaks away when I accelerate hard out of a slow corner and the front screeches on hard braking. The K270 sticks to the pavement like glue in comparison. One other thing... the front was a BITCH to mount. Getting it on the rim was easy but the bead would finally seat at 137psi on the second try. The only things I like about the Challenger are the smoother rolling and the fact that it's H-rated. Mark B2 A2 A3

Yes I did get the Challengers. I have not mounted the front yet but the rear sure feels good,a bit taller. TC

I have about 100 miles on my Kenda Challengers. So far what a great deal 32.99 front 35.99 rear. My brakes improved 100% and stability the same. I dout if I ever go back to an enduro type tire. I have almost 3000 miles on my front Challenger with very little wear. My rear Challenger has 2000 miles with some wear but not a whole lot. I would guess the rear will go 7000 to 8000 easy. The front will last way longer than the 2 year limit that the Slime in the tube allows. I think they are a good value, better than the Kings I had before. The rear King was worn at 4000 miles and the front was cupped so bad that I had to replace it at 4000 too. Brad

Guy You could get a cheep set from J C whitney chen shing aae622045y front 26.09 aae622049p rear 46.79 Thats what I'm using now but if you want better go to Avon Roadrunner they last forever and their great in the rain but they cost about 200. What ever you do don,t get a front tire with straight groves they get caught in every thing. Most 21in tires are made for H-D's. I also use the Metzeler Tourance tires. I used to use the Metzeler Enduro4'S but have not been able to find them lately. Not sure if Metzeler quit importing them or not. These tires are just great. I commute on my KLR and do alot of street riding with it and think that the Metzelers are the best tires without question for my type of riding. The rear is a steel belted radial. They are 90% - 95% Street but hookup rather good in the dirt and sand. Don't get me wrong in the dirt they are not going to hookup like Dunlop 606's. You should see the look I get from DRZ-400 and KTM riders when I come along on the "Beast" and they see what tires I tranversing the terrain with. As long as we're on a "tires" thread; I'm currently running a Gripster/Kenda 271 combo. My only complaint is that the gripster is blocking badly, is pretty noisy and likes to slip out a little on corners. I'm not really a 80/20 or even a 90/10 rider but probably 99% road and 1% offroad-dirt, gravel and such. Just how much difference in dirt/gravel would I experience with street tires? I'm sure the noise would and ride would be much improved.
