It seems the museum's opening a new wing dedicated primarily to the marque and Yamaha wanted to donate a few things. The museum got a cutaway R1M (cool) AND a pre-production R1m with the unreal serial number of A000001. way cool! I was invited to join my Yamaha dealer as his guest and got there about 2 hours early so I could go to the gift shop, hang out with the vintage bike folks, etc... I got off the Super Tenere and went inside to ask directions. The closest person was an unassuming fellow looking at souvenirs, so I approached him. He turned around and it was Peter Egan! My day was made already. He's a super nice guy, btw. We talked for a minute and then I went on to get the mandatory shirt, stickers, pins, etc...  Outside putting my goodies in the saddlebags, an older fellow walked up and it was Mr. George Barber himself. Neat! My Yamaha dealer was late getting on the road from Auburn thanks to a minor accident (guy backed into him at a light, knocking over his bike.) As soon as he arrived, he was met by some other friends. One turned about to introduce himself to me and it was racer Jamie James! There I was, a mere nobody, hanging with some pretty cool company! Made to feel like "one of the guys", it got even better when Colin Edwards and his wife Alyssa arrived. {Somebody wake me!} Inside, there were refreshments of all sorts, hundreds of cool bikes to see and we had it all to ourselves. "We" being about 60-75 guests all allowed to inspect the entire facility from top to bottom. The R1Ms were unveiled and everyone had a great time.   --- New Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail replacement - get it here: http://www.oeclassic.com/   It made the 3+ hour ride home in the middle of the night worth it! -eddie
