africa twin valve adj. intervals.
BMW oilheads had a 6K check , but , after living with them for 12 years and 124K miles, I was just doing it at 12K instead . Course this was after the first 12K miles. Due to not being a hi rpm rider, I was much easier on engine wear , and , maintenance in general. Same applies to my 16 yr old KLR in which I've just had to change shims twice in it's 47K mile life. LOL, as for my 1250S Bandit, an actual 85k miles and never checked. No one has found that engines valves to be out of spec.
So in with the African Twin, I would follow maintenance procedures till I had a feel for how it wears. But then, I might have been way more excited on a Honda if they would of put the XR 650 watercooled engine in an Adventure set up.

Your pilot jet inside the float bowl in your carburetor is plugged. You might try some Seafoam in your gas tank to see if that will clear up the obstruction, If not then you will need to remove the carburetor and the float bowl to access the pilot jet. This is the smaller jet next to the main jet. You can first look through this jet to see if it is blocked and if it is, you can take a fine wire (like from a wire brush) and CAREFULLY open up this jet. Let us know how it goes.
