won't start
Howzit KLRists,
Just re-installed my carb after putting in the dyno Jet kit. I did stage two directions and put in the DJ150 main jet. (Still stock exhaust). The bike started up initially for about five seconds then cut out. Then I couldn't get it started again. Is this because of the stock exhaust? Shouldn't the bike at least start up or is the mixture too lean? Just wondering if maybe I did something wrong with the jetting, or if the DJ150 jet is all wrong for the stock exhaust.

won't start
I've got the manuals on order (for a 1999 KLR650)
but, in the short term could someone help me out
with what is sure to seem like a retarded
question?
The bike wouldn't start this morning. Seemed
completely dead, electrically speaking (no
lights, etc.). My retarded question is, how do
you get to the battery? Remove the seat? How do
you remove the seat?
Does it just pop/snap
off or is there some procedure you should use?
Also - can you jump start a motorcycle battery
with a car battery or would that be "bad"?
I'm assuming this is completely unrelated but
last night I installed the happy trails nerf bars
(http://www.happy-trail.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=44&categoryid=16&startpage=1).
There's no way that this could some how effect
the electrical system, is there?

won't start
I am a new owner of a 2003 KLR650. I ran out of fuel on the main tank, swithched to reserve and ran on it for 35 miles before refueling. I switched back to the main tank and ran about 20 miles, all with no problems. The next day, the bike would not start. The starter is working fine but the engine is not "coughing". It acts like it's not getting fuel. Any ideas?

Fuel, Spark & Compression have all 3 and it starts.
Try using starting spray into airbox. If it "coughs" then it's a fuel
problem. See if gas comes out of petcock when trying to start. You
could have sucked some small bit into the carb when you ran low on gas
and clogged a jet. Is ther a fuel filter on your gas line?
Spark ? while wareing thick gloves pull the sparkplug boot stick a
screwdriver in there, hold the metal screwdrive shaft next to the head
and look for a spark to jump. Be careful you could get a shock. Check
the sparkplug by putting it in the boot and ground it to the head,
turn over motor and look for the spark in the gap.

Suddenly the starter switch seems to have failed. 2011. Jiggled the wires on the clutch and kickstand lock out switches. Plenty of juice for lights, Common problem?
