Last night the ghost of Jennifer visited me in my sleep, she told me that on the other side they make silly jokes about people reincarnating after a horrible accident!!!! Before she left she said with a whismical grin "and by the way...there are no KLRs over there, no motorcycles or scooters...not even mountain bikes... we all get to be driven to work by either old ladies that allways seem to ignore their rearview mirrors or rednecks that just can't stand bikers!!!!!! After this she disappeared into a mist of her own devise and all I could perceive was a dim rotating glow that clearly remided me of how a police car's light looks on the blurry mirror of a KLR doing a bit over 80 in a 65 zone.... One last thing...at one point, she clearly stated that she was killed in LA by a UPS truck. After the killing the driver packed her up and sent her to Ensenada so they could "blame it on the Mexicans" as many old union leaders like to say... Heck Fireball, I want to thank you for Jennifer. She brought many smiles to an other wise boring day out here in the gulf of mexico. Geesh the visuals I had of going out with a woman like that. Some of the best bosses I've had were women believe it or not. They seem to be more in touch with the human part of the work force. You were not just a parts number wrote in pencel. I think if a person is intimidated by anyone , they need to step up and improve thierselves??? ;-).. Andy in the Gulf of Mexico still sitting on a dead platform but, just but , we may be opening wells to move just oil next weekend. Finally getting the reciever platforms and pipelines fixed enuff to do the oil. Gas, oh well, last I heard was Spring? Unless they cap off the bad section under the gulf so we can reroute it else where. Rita was mean to us. This morning Northwesterly winds about 40 knots with gusts to 50 and rocking us pertty good.

Get that oil moving Andy. We are suffering here in North Texas. I just paid $1.99 a gallon. Maybe Russell was right about it getting back down to $1.70. I don't think it will stay there if it does - but who knows these days. We were paying a dollar a gallon more 2 months ago. Criswell

fyi, here in the silicon valley, gas is about $2.70. it was $3.50 a month ago.

He did 700 km (420 miles) yesterday and used only 1/2 down the sight glass of oil. This is his second report which shows a similar improvement as the shorter highway runs. He runs around 6,000 RPM on the highway and was using over a full sight glass in 50 miles coming here before I did the mod. I gave him my first modified filter cover with the carb jet in the brass spark plug cap. When he's next here, I plan to thread his cap and install a drilled set screw. Thought you'd like to know that his oil consumption is as good as could wish, thanks to Paul Westman's generous and dedicated efforts. FWIW, I'm doing a variation in which I thread the crankshaft oil gallery bore in the oil filter cover. I anneal a 5/16" UNC set screw so it can be drilled without risking my number drills, thread the oil gallery in the cover and turn in the set screw. Paul's version involves threading an orifice into the clutch cover oil gallery. Same gallery excepting in the clutch cover instead of the oil filter cover. If one determines to do the clutch cover modification (which think Tom Schmitz has also used), it might be worth reading up on the filter cavity modifications which seem to improve the system a bit more. I like my version as it's quick and easy to do so simple to keep a spare filter cover and swap with bikes which come here. Not everyone is comfortable with the mod so only a few done for now. I expect this will become standard fare as is the doohickey and exhaust cam advance.

Anyone heard from Jennifer lately? As I recall, last time I talked to her (eons ago) she was discussing proper lubrication and the best rubber for our KLR's.  It is Spring, isn't it?  Just asking..
