I'm not exactly a connoisseur of carb bowl debris, but I don't think it was varnish. I learned about SeaFoam years ago on this forum, and have been pretty good about adding an ounce per gallon every now and then. I'm a SeaFoam believer; I use it in my car, truck and lawn mowers. I suspect the particles were something that got dislodged from the tank in the process of draining and replacing the gas, which was what I tried before getting the tip about the main jet. Hence my consideration of adding a fuel filter. However, I'll skip that now that I know about the flow restriction problem. Thanks for letting me know.
