knobby tread patterns

Many tires are set up that way for max traction during braking with the front and max traction accelerating with the rear. Always go with the arrow. Their engineers do way more testing of thread patterns than any one else buying the tire. The Avon Gripsters I just installed are the same way, front different from rear.

I'm a total newbie & just got a '97 KLR 650. I want to repaint it. How do I remove the turn signals so I can take the fender and fairing off the frame?

14 mm nut on the inside of the headlight housing as well as the rear fender housing. Simple to remove but you will also need to disconnect the wiring to the lights. Upgrade the 2 rear fender bolts that penetrate the fender support/frame. I had the internal threads strip so I drilled a bit larger and installed hardened steel bolts & locking nuts.
