I took a short ride about the country side today and wanted to do some temp checking on the Thermobob2 I instatlled awhile back. Of course the guy that designed it is an engineer with all the good stuff to test his product. But, I did with an infered unit I had back from my offshore rig and production mechanic days. I took measurements at the Left head, top of the radiator , bottom of the radiator near the fan temp unit, the side of the waterpump and inlet to the cylinder both hot and cold. All the cold readings were from 63 to 67 degrees F , depending on how shiney or dirty it was.  up on returning from about 20 miles or so of riding about. I shot them again. All the ones on the engine were in the 165 to 170 range, top of the radiator was in the 175 area and water pump housing was about 155F.
What I'm liking is the temp at the top of the head ( can't get a reading there due to exhaust ) stays pretty much the same n all running conditions. Into the wind, at speed, in town going slow. So, to me, it's a keeper.
Oh yes, still lovin' the way the engine's running since the KLX needle and jet kit  plus , advancing the ex cam a tooth.
Very happy camper at present

nklr a little fun

The other day as I exited the tunnel that links Southbound  I 205 and 84 East in Portland I merged just behind a group of Harleys and it dawned on me we need a collective noun for Harleys as well as other rider categories, bunch or group just isn't accurate.  Using the many informative collective nouns for the animal world as examples there is: a Flock of Birds , an Army of Ants,  a Swarm of Bees, an Intrusion of Cockroaches, a Company or Pandemonium of Parrots, a Crash of Rhinoceroses, an Ambush or Streak of Tigers and so on.
So what collective nouns can we come up with for HDs or Sport bikes or that new category of 100 HP Adventure bikes.
You get the idea.  I ll start it out you add as your imagination takes over:
a Howl of Sport bikes;  a Posing of HD s;   an Image of Adventure bikes
Don t leave out the Enduro or Motocross or Trials or multiday off-road riders.  We all deserve a collective noun even if it embarrasses us.
