I finally removed the seat bolts on my 09' and used 3M weatherstrip adhesive (yellow gorilla snot) to attach some heavy-duty hook & loop fastener to the seat pan and frame. The seat still hooked at the front. But, the rear was held down buy the velcro and kept in check side-to-side by the tabs through where the bolts used to fasten. The seat never felt loose at all and stayed put. The side panels still had their bolts. At least I could access under the seat easily enough. -eddie

Does anybody know the size of the bolts that attach the seat to the bike? My bike was knocked over and the bolts broke/fell out. Thanks!!!!

I totally agree that the hook and loom is A-OK for quick release.However,With Corbin seats,= spendy little devils--I want to slow down the sticky fingers just a bit,and make them steal the entire bike to make a 'fast' getaway with the seat.But, maybe, that is just me. shrug. revmaaatin. who is still bolted with side covers and seat bolts. yeah, I know its painful. painfully aware. sigh.

I dispensed with the side covers years ago and haven t missed them one bit. It was a hassle getting the stainless fasteners in place and another hassle warping the right cover past the modification I did to my pannier racks when I rolled the bike in Baja.

 

The exposed airbox looks just fine to me, and I ve even become somewhat used to looking at that ugly orange battery. I ve not noticed any ill effects on carburation or anything else by having the side covers off. I was warned that the airbox would fill with rainwater, and wash all my NoToil oil off the airfilter. None of that happened and the bike has seen plenty of rain since the covers were shipped off to the eBay buyer who valued them $60 more than I did.

 

But like revmaaatin I have the seat bolted down because it would momentarily slow down someone wanting to do the five-finger discount Corbin seat upgrade to their bike.
