Side draft SU or Stromberg carbs and such- just goes to show that one can always make things worse if the wrong engineers are involved. ;-)   Speaking of water, one of the last ones of those I worked on was at the southern end of the island of Tanna in Vanuatu. The owners owned a resort and had lost the gas cap. Insteand of using a plastic bag over a rag to plug the hole, a cloth rag was stuffed into the filler which directed water into the tank. Drained about 6 or 8 gallons from the tank and chased the water around and around since it was in various low spots. Things were complicated by them having fried the starter completely but not mentioning so I didn't bring another when flew there. Had to have it dragged up the hill by a passing truck and then depend on rolling down to start. One can imagine how thorough I tried to be in clearing water before the first attempt because there was going to be no second attempt since the truck was gone. Managed to get it to start and barely enough power to back up the hill again in low range reverse. More draining of carbs, fuel pump, filter then retry, over and over.  ;-)   Tanna is famous for Mount Yasser which is an active volcano one can walk up and look down into the lava. Also known for John Frum cargo cult. Interesting reading if someone is interested in sociology.
