according to the sweet girl from the Yamaha store.
I want a good tire for on and off, you ever heard of
Golden Boy? It is a tire brand, not a shemale.
what do you think?

Gents,
I was changing my clutch lever (2007 klr650) over the weekend and unscrewed
the little rectangular piece that's right next to the choke. Two small
screws hold it. It's about 1 inch long and 1/4 inch wide. Is that the
grounding for the starter? A little metal part fell out (looks like a
washer). Afterwards I could not start the bike. Lights are on but the
starter does not click or start the bike.
What rookie mistake did I make here? Does anybody know the name of that
part? I need to look it up.
I attached 2 pictures but not sure if you can view it.

Clutch safety switch. The little metal part is the bridge to make contact across the terminals. Can be disabled if you want, but otherwise the metal piece needs to be put back in where it slides with clutch use. Dielectric grease will help it stay there while you button it up. t.

That is the clutch safety switch. It keeps the starter motor from
working when the clutch is engage (lever out) and the transmission is in
gear. It provides a path to ground for the starter relay (blue/red
wire) when the clutch is engage (lever out) and the transmission is in
neutral via the neutral switch (green wire) and also when the clutch is
disengage (lever in) via the black/yellow ground wire.
If you can find the part(s) and figure out how to install them the
adjustment is loosen the two screws and slide the switch one way or the
other then tighten the screws. Check the start motor operation with the
clutch lever in and out, transmission in gear and in neutral. If it
isn't working correctly or well slide it a bit more one way or the other
until it does work correctly.
If you want to by-pass it you connect the black/yellow wire to the
blue/red wire. This will allow the starter motor to turn when the key is
on and the starter button is pressed. It won't matter if the
transmission is in gear or not nor will the clutch situation matter. If
you can't remember to pull the clutch lever in every time you press the
starter button it might not be a good idea to by-pass it.

Ditto on sticking it back. The KLR clutch switch is an optional keeper, IMO. They are pretty reliable so are generally worth keeping. If it were a Suzuki one, like a DR650, unplug the leads under the headlight and plug the two harness (male and female) bullet connectors together. No clutch switch but those crappy Suzie switches will leave you walking, IME.
Might be a good time to look at the wiring diagram and plug pin outs I linked so you understand the circuit in the clutch switch. Might help if you have one fail in the bush.

Thank you for your input. I will put the damn thing back together. Is it just the metal plate? Or is there a tiny little switch that goes inside the plastic housing as well? I found something on the street right by the bike as i was finishing up my work and saved it. I'm guessing it needs to go back in there somehow.
If anybody has any pictures of how its supposed to look please email me. I'm guessing the little switch just goes in there somehow and the plate goes between the handlebar and the plastic housing?
I can't find any pics online. Anyways what's the worst that can happen? I'll get a short and burn the computer? Been there and done that. The bike was stolen from me and found. I love this baby!!!!
