John Nomad (how is that for a name?) is traveling around the world by way of two wheels in an effort to draw support for orphans in Zambia. I met John in an unlikely spot; outside the market at Grand Canyon Village as he was gathering supplies while on the North American portion of his tour. At the time of our meeting, John had been on the road for the past 10 months and logged some 55,000 km on his Yamaha Super T n r . One of the many highlights of John s travels to date include tackling the infamous Road of Bones in Russia. Another rider is Tony Herald, who is a proud supporter of lostforareason.org, a nonprofit that provides much needed assistance to the children and families of the Navajo Nations. The panniers on Tony s KLR act as a rolling billboard for the organization, prompting our conversation. Whether fundraising to supply the food bank or building playgrounds, Tony is just one of many riders that offer their support. With the holiday season fast approaching, this reminds me that many motorcycle clubs across the U.S. sponsor Toys for Tots events one easy way for all of us to come to the aid of those less fortunate.
