1. My stock ones are 5" on center. I have two other sets, 5-1/4" and 5-1/2. How far will they lower the rear?
2. To compensate for the lowered rear, would I slide the forks up the same distance as the rear end was lowered, at least to start with?

They should make about 3/4 difference each. Yes on sliding up the fork legs the same.

fork seals removed with air pressure

We did take out the clips, didn't take the time do anything but switch the leaky seals.
