A guy on the Cyleworld forum got hit by an uninsured motorist. He didn't have insurance and it cost him around $30,000 in medical bills. I would get insurance if I was you. --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "nomorenoless" wrote:

Ok .. I sell motorcycle insurance for a (sort of) living in AZ. Un and Uninsured medical insurance covers the medical bills only. Sometimes the rider only and not the passenger. Definitely not the bike. That is under full coverage under the physical damages coverage. The insurance company gets the deductible from someone and they fix the bike. If someone hits you, part of the damage settlement is the Physical Damage. The deductible is part of the recovery. If you get hit by and Un or Under insured motorist and you go to the E.R., they don't ask you if you were hit by an insured motorist, they just ask if you have hospitalization. If you don't have Un and Under on your bike, see if your Automobile Un and Under is portable. (If you don't have it on your car, please by all means get that coverage.) Some car insurance companies in some states allow that coverage to extend to motorcycles. If not, see if your medical insurance through work would cover you if you have a motorcycle accident. Another place to look for coverage on Un and Under medical coverage is your home owner's insurance. There may be coverage for medial bills there. PauL M. What are you folks paying? I have 22 bikes, of which 21 are on an antique policy. All are insured for declared value, no deductible. Over $100,000.00 in coverage for $627.00 per year. The best quote I have found for the 01 KLR-650 is $297.00 per year, with $500.00 deductible. That is 10% of what I paid for the bike, I've had no wrecks or tickets and have 42 years riding. My quad cab 3/4 ton pickup is $525.00 per year. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

NJ costs me a bit over $700 for full coverage with a bump in liability, something like 300k/500k. I'm in the lowest bracket there is too.

Try the GMAC/Rider Magazine plan that is advertised in that mag every month. Best deal I've found. Kurt Grife In a message dated 3/19/04 6:12:40 PM Central Standard Time, brucwms@... writes

I've got state minimums for liability to others, cost is $153 a year. I added equal coverage for Unisured/underinsured motorist which adds another $170. For comparison, I carry the same coverage on my '66 K10 which costs $20 a year more than the KLR. Pat G'ville, Nv [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I second this. GMAC does well in California. Dunno about anywhere else. RM

I paid $107 a year for my KLR650 & XR250 last august. It went up $15 when I added my xr a few years ago, and so far, it has dropped a few bucks a year. Hopefully, that trend will continue. Multi bike discounts are good!! I'm using Progressive. MotorMark KLR650 A13 Warthogg XR250r superfly Stone Mountain, Ga www.angelfire.com/mo/motormark
