I have GIVI top case. Push the button and it pops right off. Wish I'd remembered that when I was struggling to right the KLR after it fell over in an overlook on the Cherohala with the case full of tools and manuals on my way to a tech day.

Thanks, I will have a look. I mostly want to use if for my commute with a 1.5 x 9" laptop plus files, but would like to be able fit my silly personal 17" laptop which measures about 16.5 x 11".

At first glance, I doubt that this mounting (boating/track) system is durable enough for motorcycle, especially Dual Sport use.I also have a GIVI top box; I wish it looked more like a (manly) Pelican case than a 3rd grade girls bicycle box.m1

I have an ice chest held on by ratchet straps through the roller frame. It is manly as hell, since it holds 42 cans of beer!

Top cases.
I like my pelican, and made rails so it mounts just behind the stock tool kit. (Getting into the tools a plus, NOT sitting on the gas tank when camping gear ect loaded MAJOR.)
I like the flat top case so it's ALOT easier to pack & Strap items on top. (tent, fishing gear etc.)
PS. Had my cousin believing I delt with ANYTHING on the road, (camping with a tarp & no tent) UNTIL! I stopped at Walmart and bought a $1. plastic shoe box to keep my bread from smashing. (Can't have PB&J with SMOUSHED Bread. LOL)
As the bread size went down, other things when in. apples grapes etc. YUMMMMMMMY

At first glance, I doubt that this mounting (boating/track) system is durable enough for motorcycle, especially Dual Sport use. I went into the electrical system under the gas tank again this morning to find that elusive ground. While there , pulled everything apart and wire brushed and sprayed CRC22 on every thing. An electrical cleaner / luber I use to use when working on drilling rig electrics. Found two things. The ground at the water reservoir was in bad shape.
Thanks Fred for reminding me to check this. Also had one corroded plug that came apart so redid it with new connectors. Put everything back together and put the 276C on to monitor voltage and it's about as steady as I've ever seen it since new. Even applying the brake lights , stays the same. V ery happy with the out come.
Was checking and I don't have any records of changing the spark plug, just cleaning it and dressing it. So, think I'll treat it to a new one today. Need to run by my local shop anyhow to look at a bike for a friend. LOL Local is about 35 miles away I'm thinking.
