  One section from a trunk will cover a bunch of KLR fans. The light leaking around the back plate is interesting as hadn't considered that the effect might be an issue. Another example of someone noticing something I've overlooked. Just went out and looked...   It's on my list to check out later on as might be helpful in seeing better at night. The only reason for the marks is that the radiator paint wasn't 100% dry so it stuck to the rubber and pulled off when I removed the fan.   https://www.dropbox.com/s/2gwkya90ml4gaqx/Marks%20from%20door%20rubber.jpg?dl=0   The door edge seal is old car door stuff I bought from a self service auto wrecker. Almost any older junked car should have something useable, and a big pair of diagonal cutters will snip through the metal innards of the seal. One might be able to see where I snipped off the extended portion from the inside because it would contact the fan. The seal slides onto the fan shroud and some pieces I've used gripped really well onto the shroud. I think this piece was from a thicker body edge and so doesn't grab as well.   The kid with the noisy exhaust who parks down your street might be a good source for some door edging as pay back for the noise.    I really like this modification as it fits the simple, cheap and easy as well as improving both air flow through the radiator and reducing the chance that a cracked shroud will damage the radiator. Only takes a bit of time when the tank is off.   When one is in there, check the voltage drops and it will be seen that some extra help is in order regarding the wiring. I initially replaced my fan, with a  '500' fan when it got crunched in a dirt nap.  Initially attempted a JBweld repair at the plastic attachment point but was less than successful.  Later, I added the motor when the original motor failed; required adding a separate ground. shrug.    Could you post an oblique and side view of the fan-gasket interface?
