Battery
Folks,
I just came back from a two week vacation and when I tried to start my bike the battery didn't have enough of a charge to crank it. It is a 93 and I have had it for almost a year. I failed to ask the previous owner how old the battery was. This is the second time it has died on me. The first time I left the bike on park for a couple of hours but was able to push start it. Is there a way I can tell if I need a new battery, Amout of liquid in the battery etc. Please let me know or should I just go out and get a new one and if so any recomendations?

Have been looking at the Dual Star site showing the Odyssey battery kit for the KLR. I have never used a dry cell battery before, and know nothing about them. Anybody on the list have any experience with them? If so, how well do they fit?
It says "All parts are included in kit - minor modifications required"
My original battery is over two years old now, I'm thinking about changing it so I don't have to worry about it failing while out on the road somewhere.The dry cell would be nice too, wouldn't have to take it out and fill it every 5,000 miles like I do now.

batteryweb.com look for odyssey they do two a pc545 and an x545
both are maintanace free and sealed batteries with deep cycling at
lower amps the pc545 is the main match the x545 is batterywebs
version and cheaper i have the pc545 so cant vouch for the x545 but
i have read a lot of people using them with no problems.

The batterys from Battery Web, (which I have) and Dual Star require
that you do modification to the motorcycle. They fit in so the top
is facing the left side of the bike, you will need to modify the
wiring and the cover plate. Arrowhead sell a replacement gel battery
that is the same as stock but a gel. John

Hello to all, I've resubscribed after being offline for awhile. Well, I
done a stupid thing: Dropped my battery and broke it. I bought a
replacement from Sears and I have several questions.
(1) The instructions state I should charge it and wait for the fluid to
start bubbling after filling the cells with the acid provided. However,
when I put the battery on the Battery Tender it indicates that it is
charged. Does it not need charging?
(2) Is there a use for the left over acid? Sometime down the road, when the
cells run low would I be better off topping them off with the left over acid
or should I discard the acid and top off the cells with distilled water.
(3) Nowhere on the packaging or on the battery are the specs written. Does
someone know the specs on the Diehard battery replacement?

I went to the garage yesterday and noticed more battery acid dripping
on the side of my KLR, after cleaning everything up the other day and
checking the battery case for cracks. I pulled it apart again and
noticed acid on top of the battery, but still saw no cracks. I put
everything back together and went for a ride, stopping every 10 miles
or so to take a look, nothing for 20-30 miles, then at the next stop -
I saw the positive terminal had a crack on the side when the battery
was warm, that was the only time the thing would leak.
So now I have a 2003 with 450 miles and now the fun will start when I
call the dealer later today, I wonder what ,if anything they will do.

Hey, i just bought a used klr. i dont know much about this bike. It
seems that i have run out of battery. the big problem is that i have
no idea how to get to the battery or where it is. If you can please
email me at pinkfloyd1887Aol.com and tell me a little bit about the
battery and where it is. thanx in advance
