Who would like to go back to the days of points and condenser ignition? How about internal expanding drum brakes vs. hydraulic disk? I came of age, both in my professional and personal life, when electronics were taking the place of relays, solid state replacing vacuum tubes, and so on. The old timers would say "I ain't workin' on that newfangled crap. Can't troubleshoot it, can't even fix it!". Well, today, *we* are the old timers. And, you actually can troubleshoot and fix it. I'll take the new, thanks. I've had more coils fail than fuel injector modules (which, for EFI, is zero as far as leaving me stranded). I've been highly annoyed at ECMs going into "limp home" mode after getting wet, but at least it got me home. Despite the above, I love the KLR. I love it so much, I have 2 of them. It's perfect for my type of Sunday ride: 200 miles of road plus 20 miles of not so much road. But, I will probably never buy a new one again - mainly because the newer ones have been made more street-worthy at the sacrifice of off-road capability. If I were looking for a bike more like the KLR-650 was in 2004, when I bought my new one, I'd probably be looking closer at a DR-650 Mike Reply via web post edgyver40@...?subject=Re%3A%20%5BBulk%5D%20Re%3A%20%5BDSN_KLR650%5D%20KLR%20Rant DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com?subject=Re%3A%20%5BBulk%5D%20Re%3A%20%5BDSN_KLR650%5D%20KLR%20Rant Start a New Topic Messages in this topic (1) .
