I've done "roll on tests" against a number of stock HD big twins with my KLR685. The KLR beat them all. Maybe not fair comparing a modified KLR to a stock HD but...life isn't fair either.
But much more fun is running down a herd of them on a twisty road like the Beartooth Pass in MT. Best of all is explaining that your bike has 1/2 the displacement, costs 1/5 as much to buy and 1/3 as much to insure while burning 2/3 as much fuel...and 2/1 as much fun. (for those that slept thru fractions 2/1 can be read as "two times"

I'm not positive on this, but I think my 2003 Harley Heritage Softail will out run my 2006 KLR. It would definately be a close race.
And my Harley is lower maintenance and leaks less (no) oil!

It never ceases to frustrate my friend when I out-accelerate him on his V-Star 1100 when I'm on the KLR.
However, most modern motorcycles (read: non-cruisers) will eat the KLR for lunch.
