I am thinking purchasing this Joe Rocket bag but am concern due to the shape of my 09 KLR tank. Is anyone using a tank bag on your KLR? and how does it fit.

you need a sloped bottom like dirt bike bags have. Cant say enough about my Wolfman Expedition. It has been there and back again and still works fine after 12 hard years, first on my GS and now on my 08 KLR.  I would also avoid gimick bags, fancy little pockets... I have 2 tank bags,    1st.  SAFETY NOTE, GRAB AND SNATCH, (Just like Purses, Cameras, etc. out of a car getting gas etc. I run a strap, threw the loop or handle, and attach to the handle bars, MOST people will walk away from there bike at times leaving the bag on the tank. toss trash away at gas station, paper towel, drink sitting, in shade near by.  The LOWLIFE, walks over talking nice to you about your travels, and he/she OR A FRIEND SNATCH'S YOUR BAG AND RUNS TO NEARBY CAR? OR WALKS BECUASE YOU ARE NOT LOOKING, feeling confident being so close. BAGS1 X-large Basic, (TRIPS) & 1 x small. Basic items, mini mag. Flashlight, camera, sm. binoculars, compass,(& @ times, hand held GPS)  Leatherman, (Skeletool on sale at Cabelas) pen & pencil, SM. all weather writing pad., Lighter, or fire starter rod. (large bag also Zip lock baggies 1. 1gal. & 3-4 sandwich size) Sandwich ziplocks work as RAIN cover, Cell, Camera, GPS, ETCslip over the Garmin Nuvi GPS cord out bottom, zip shut, thin enough to still snap into holder.  The large Magnetic (regret?) bag I picked up for my Cruiser (sold 6yrs+ ago) with Maps holder on top.  Not designed for the KLR, yet has worked hard for me all over the country. Magnet holds ok, Only falls off when I DO, (Trails etc.) If packed full it pulls on the magnets, a bit. CONS,  The Map holder yellowed, (yellow but works, hard to jam a folded map into, zipper is the NARROW end). Magnetic? Not If, BUTT WHEN you drop it, (Sitting it on your seat etc while filling up. ETC ETC.  JUST Hope there are no METAL SHAVINGS, WIRES etc. near by. Like RUST from cars, trailers, ETC., at the Gas station, restaurant, parts store, ALLLL the places you will go. THE MAGNETS WILL COLLECT METALS, AND RUB YOUR PAINT JOB.  (So I dbl look AND FEEL rubbing my hands over the foam covered magnets, every time I drop it.) I have both the Manta and the Wolfman. The Manta is a very nice bag for the money and I use it on my other bikes. It will sort of work on the KLR, but the Wolfman fits, stays in place and holds more. Al Cooper Medina, Ohio
