Hey
I don't play Games, stream movies, etc. (yet. LOL) I search the Web, Emails & Face book.
(weather, google, motels, gas, camping, etc etc)
POINT: When looking at how much data I will use, it mentions Receive and/or send Emails,
If I get 20 Emails a day yet I only open 4, Do I use up 4 e's worth of data or 20?
(I don't realy want my phone to PING every time a new FB post or Email is sent.
On a trip, and Waiting for urgent info, like (Hey you can stay at my place. HINT! HINT!) That is what texting or voice is great for.

Mark, the phone only uses data when you open your emails, or when you refresh things like Facebook (And I am Banned from Facebook without knowing why). You email in its entirety is kept on a different server.
You also can set your alerts to different levels including OFF so it does not keep checking.
That said, unless you are watching a LOT of VIDEOS on YouTube or streaming Video, or UPLOADING video you are taking. Like Ride Videos... you won't be using very much data... I have yet to use over a gigabyte in a month.
Now, If you wish to upload Video, watch videos, etc while out on a trip with your phone. Anytime your at any place with free Wi Fi, ALMOST any place you eat or stay except Northern Canada and Alaska I have found, you can just surf to your hearts delight as that does not count against your data usage. Just make sure your in WiFi mode.

Remember when using hot spots for wireless internet you are susceptible to hacking. On line banking and other financial transactions should be made through a secure server. I was just schooled about this at my wireless store on Saturday. They do provide you your own portable hotspot to use on your PC when traveling. This is an additional $20 bucks per month or more for this service, plus the purchase of the hot spot device. AT&T and Verizon have worked well for me as a provider, they love that monthly $75 commitment. YMMV. Ateam [b]From:[/b]

Do Most Cell phones, allow you to use the free WIFI when avalible, and not there cell towers?
