And then there's quizzing the simple. Try running with the gas cap open? Needle installed below the spring spacer on the carb? Riding in rotation with Coriolis force?
I've had new fuel line hoses chafe on the inside when installing setting small bits of rubber into the carb. Also had the air filter get so dirty that I had to clean it by the side of the road. (x2).
