Hey Ya'll
On the lighter side, since thinking of Martin all day.
I have a couple of topics on the petcock to ask & tell.
1st. I was watching a Youtube video & a guy in Connecticut was changing out the Petcock Diaphragm with (The world famous mentioned on you-tube Jeff Saline's) a BLOCK-OFF PLATE. Just $20. (or so)
He made the comment that the Vacuum line was for catching and recycling gas fumes.
If I remember right? The Diaphragm (and hose) is "ONLY" A SWITCH & HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GAS FUMES.
How it works: When engine is turning over & creating a vacuum, The vacuum pulls on the diaphragm, and pulls open the gas petcock valve allowing gas to flow, stop the engine (or DROP BIKE & STALL IT. OOPS) the vacuum stops pulling open the diaphragm and the spring push's it back closed and SHUTS OFF THE GAS.
2nd. If a person does not want to worry about remembering to shut the valve off, and does not install the block off plate KIT (just $20.+?) and stays STOCK
HOW COMMON, is the diaphragm issue? If not having any "ISSUES", Should the Diaphragm be replaced every so many years as GENERAL PMS? (preventive Maintenance System)
IF SO HOW OFTEN? (miles years?)
