Hey Jeff Timing? what would happen, IF, when doing the shims, you get the chain off by 1 (+) link? James: Why are you asking about timing? just doing general service? (tuning etc?) Thanks- James <><><><><><> <><><><><><> James, If you really want to check the timing and don't have a friend with a timing light maybe check a pawn shop. Another solution might be to go to an automotive repair shop and pay a tech $5 to hook their timing light to the bike. It would only take them about 30 seconds. Should be nothing to check unless you put the rotor on without the key or something got loose in the engine and knocked the pickup out of alignment. KLR ignition timing is normally very stable. In 11 years I never recall hearing of one being out of time for ignition. Mark- I'm still trying to fix the high-rpm miss [("Re: [DSN_KLR650] Help! 22-cent mod renders motor non-running!?!?!? ('99 KLR)"]. I'm going through the tests described in Clymer. But now that you guys have educated me a bit, I can see that timing's not the problem. Shucks: I guess this situation isn't a good enough excuse to buy a new tool.-James
