15 Volts is what Kawa says the output from the regulator is. This is a bit on the high side for most batteries. Most charging units that I have dealt with do 13.5 to 14 hooked up to a charged battery. When I tested mine ( due to having an almost empty batt in 3000 miles) it was at 14.8 volts at 5000 rpm for a max reading. I have to check my battery quite often as it I run at 75 to 80 indicated for goodly stretches when having to get back home or to get somewhere in a hurry. Some of us have to water the batt quite often and others don't. Probably would have to have all check loaded voltage at , say 4000 rpm and compare them to the water they use. And running in hotter temps will have a bit to do with it also I assume. But, when the dude does go belly up it will be replaced with a sealed unit. -- Best Regards & Happy Trails Andy Chesley @ 57 and ticking in Jennings in SW Louisiana Y2KLR650 @ 8+K sMiles 97 R11RA (Amiga) @ 16+K sMiles So Many Roads, So Little Time http://members.deltech.net/aches/

...On one page of the manual. For some reason, the General Information section in the front of the supplement shows the alternator output as "14A @8 000 r/min (rpm), 14V". Just why an alternator putting out 14V becomes 15V at the battery isn't explained in the manual. [...]

My 600B1 is one of those bikes that rarely needs any water added. One day I'll measure the running battery voltage. Mister_T

I'm about to order a Battery Tender over the web and noticed that they sell both a 6V and a 12V. The KLR does have a 12V battery, right? I don't have my bike here at the moment. Thanks, JT Wilson DSN: 872-5887 Comm: 850-882-5887 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I think my '71 Honda SL100 had 6 volts. Not sure though, the 70's cost me a few brain cells. __Arden

81 Honda XL500 had 6 volt. 82 XL500 had 12 volt, and the headlight was still really bad. Allan
