Is there any reason why I shouldn't just snake my hand up in there to pull the bulb? I can reach it. I suppose you just remove the rubber cap, either undo a clip or twist out the bulb.... David L. I did not remove the front plastic when I changed mine. I don't know exactly how I did it. Probably brute force and bleeding hands. But it got changed. Robert Wichert P.Eng. LEED AP BD&C +1 916 966 9060 FAX +1 916 966 9068 ===============================================

Gen 1 or 2? My Gen 1 bike had this annoying metal clam around it that was a pain to take off and impossible to put back on. For me at least.... -David

Post by mark ward » Mon Apr 14, 2014 1:59 pm

OK Now the REAL question. As we find 100s of FARKELS to add to the KLR, and even more ways to MODIFIE it, HOME MADE REMIDIES, T-mod, Doo Hickey, no bolts in the seat, SIDEWAYS battery (Odyssey) Move Fuses ETC ETC..  NOW,....... How do we improve the front Shroud to better the Headlight and be able to replace it EASYER? The CHALLAGE IS ON......GO!

I was able to sit on the ground on the left side of the bike and reach up in there.  I was on a road trip, I believe it did take 10 to 15 minutes to complete the mission on a 2008.  Arm was red from jamming up there. headlamp bulb replacement

I went to the dealer, got a bulb, went home. Pulled the old bulb fairly easily. Wrong bulb. Back to the dealer today. 30 mile round trip each time. $20 for a bulb? 2011 has a two lamp system. Sent from my Sprint phone.
