new riding "alone"? trick (nonklr)

Post by mark ward » Tue Oct 22, 2013 9:21 am

New to me.

We've all, (most) have done the, "meet you at the next turn" trick.

The faster guy (like John B.) Rides his own speed, and stops at the next turn off, and waits for the slower guy, (me) to catch up.
(Coat's off, relaxing, drinking water, and looking at the map, WAITING FOR ME. as at our trip to Death Valley. LOL)

No-one gets lost or left behind....very long. LOL

My next trip I ride with someone else, (IF it happens) will be, Meet you TONIGHT AT........?

Ya, this will take some actual PLANNING, as to WHAT DIRRECTION AND WHERE, I will stop that night.

MOSTLY I just wonder, even if it is in a Western ETC "direction", I often do not follow the gps, or think about when or where, I will spend the night, UNTILL THE LAST HOUR OR SO. (then I may have to take 2 hrs, to get to a motel etc.,

(one COLD & RAINY night, was a 3am check in.

I figure, start out that morning eating breakfast and plan out WHERE we will stay that night, then as we ride, if we part off just wave ..... SEE YA LATER.

Paths may cross or 1 guy may want to check in early, and relax that day, while the other may not get there  until 1AM.

BUT you also KNOW, THAT IF NEEDED! The other is most likely less then 50 miles away. (on 250-300 mile days, heading to SAME STOP POINT.)
Call text etc. and wait for the return call.

You can Also call if you spot something on your path, that you feel the other would really want to see/ride.

TOO OFTEN, someone wants to stay on pavement, or spend alot of time, doing what bores the heck out of the other.

TWO DIFFERANT RIDE'S,..... BOTH WITH BACK-UP "NEAR" BY.

Yes it may take awhile for the other to stop and check there phone, BUT, Better then totally alone, OR TRAPPED IN A RIDE YOU DO NOT LIKE.

(PS. AAA towing takes forever also.
