It gives us, people who ride normally a very bad look. If the car was really cutting them off on purpose beforehand, then the guy was just asking for it. A terrible incident. No doubt about it. But let's say it's true: I'd like to think that none of us would react the way these riders did. No excuse for it. In legal terms, it's "reasonably foreseeable" that when you and a couple dozen of your pals illegally and inexplicably surround a man in his car with his family, stop him dead on an open highway, block his escape in all directions, then get off your bikes and approach his vehicle, he will believe you mean him harm. It is reasonably foreseeable that he will try to escape, and that's what he did. If you've put your bike or your body on the roadway in front of him, you've "assumed the risk" that his escape will harm you, EVEN if your intentions are not in fact malicious. And given that these riders had already proven themselves willing to commit several crimes, from reckless driving to false imprisonment, I'm being charitable, especially in light of their chasing down the driver and beating him up. If they thought they had a legitimate beef against him, they should have called the police. But of course, then they would have had to explain how it all started.

did you see this?
Pretty sure the driver of the SUV only slammed the gas to escape once one of the bikers RAN up and OPENED back door of the vehicle where presumably his DAUGHTER was sitting... Who wouldn't fear an angry mob of thuggish bikers directly after a fender-bender when they present themselves so aggressively? Even if he cut people off, even if he hit and run, it's not okay to chase him down and take to violence, you're only increasing the risk of more people getting hurt or killed in a chase. The freeway is about the stupidest place possible for grab assing around on quads and motorcycles. Oh, someone got paralyzed from this? Shocking!(not) didnt see that happening... Even stupider is blaming drivers if you get hurt doing so. Would you go to a shooting range to play paintball and then blame the shooters when someone got hurt? Hey everyone, stop shooting! I want to go play on the range!
