Any idea why this might happen? I checked the cable, it was fine. Thanks

speedometer goes nuts
Just 110?Mine hit a solid 125 into a stout headwind. oh, oh, oh, I might know the answer to this one!well, I sort of know, at least I know what is in your future, based on my past. cough. You have been sent an invitation of sorts, to enter-- the 'look for a used speedo sweepstakes'...NOTE: and don't buy one that has a lot of miles on it. The partial preventative measures you might try: I disassembled mine.Lightly lubed moving parts, etc. with white lith. greaseI lubed the internal cableIt got me three more years, with intermittent goofy mph indicators from time to time. Kept proper mileage more/less within .6/100 as measured against the gps. Then one day, the internal workings of the speedo quit and twisted off the cable. So, then I got to find guts from an old speedo, cut and paste, and likewise to the speedo cable. bata bing, bata boom. The good news, the bike then had ~27000, fewer miles. shrug. The bad news, the piston/rings/compression, etc have now failed at an indicated 29.5K smiles. (Eagle Mike 685, rebuild kit sitting on the bench) Just as a side note, let the record show, my comprehensive maintenance journal indicates an actual mileage of 56.5K smiles.
