I've actually found the grass is usually greener over the drainfield and browner over the septic tank. At least here in East Tennessee. With apologies to you and Erma Bombeck.

vendor poll
Hey all – OK, here’s kinda’ a poll… I do realize that this is almost like asking what someone’s favorite color is (Olive Green here), but as a newbie I don’t want to waste time and $$ with vendors who may sell seconds or Chinese import parts and/or don’t call back. Who are the best vendors? Saying that, I recognize EagleMike, Wattman as niche vendors – specialized gear, Here’s how I see them grouped: Adventure Gear - Happy Trail – offers maint and enhance gearTourtech/CycoActive KLR specific -KLR650.com – sorta’ disappointed with my dealings with them so far… (Which led to this poll)Fred’s (can’t think of the name)Pro-CycleSchnitz – performance stuff – but I’m already eyeing the 685 w/cams and header back exhaust – but I haven’t outgrown what I have yet… Generic motorcycle vendors - Cycle GearMotorcycle GearMotorcycle SuperstoreRevzillaEt al Just curious to know who people have learned to trust and which vendors provide fair prices with good customer service. My plan is to order the thermo-bob and shinko 80/20 tires (winter and wet is coming) – get those parts on… Then order my DooHickey and stator upgrade (might as well do the stator while I’m in there for the doohickey) as another “project”. In the middle of this I may order the front progressive springs – but I really have not ridden the bike enough to assess whether I really need them. I have fresh 15w fork oil in ‘em and they seem ok – still somewhat soft though. She’s starting to come together… added my SS brakelines and updated lighting (taillight got the led strobe upgrade, headlight got the HIR upgrade) this past weekend. The SS brakelines really do add to the braking. The lighting is an ” Everyone who is not here, Stand Up” metric – as long as I have not swapped paint with another vehicle – maybe I can credit the lights – or maybe just good karma. I can’t officially claim skills yet, as I have not been riding long enough to count this time. Everything I do while riding is still in my brain, and has not moved down to my spinal column as second nature yet. Thanks, Stuo&>o~~~~/)~~~~

I think that Eagle Mike says KLR650.com is not selling authentic Eagle Mike gear. I'm just reporting what I heard.
You can't go wrong with Fred Hink - Arrowhead Motorsports.
If he doesn't have it, Cycle Gear is a good physical store around here.
Aerostich is good for crash suits.
I personally recommend Johnson Leather in San Francisco if you use leather gear.
