starting problem

I bought myself a 2004 klr, did some 1000 miles, got to choke and try
for about 8-10 times before it start in the morning, is there any
specific way to start a cold klr?

No, not really. Turn the choke on, turn the key on, hit the start
button leaving the throttle closed. It should fire almost instantly.
Did you buy it new? Have you done the first valve check yet?

Full choke or almost full choke whenever bike is cold--even when
warm or hot outside. Somebody else posted this and it sure helped
me. Was told it is normal on big 1 cylinder thumpers.

Turn out your fuel air mixture screw about 2 1/2 turns from being seated.

Mine did that until I fixed the pilot circuit (new #40 jet) and set
the pilot screw to 2 1/2 turns out. Now, it takes no choke, hot or
cold.
Assuming your jet is clean, try setting the pilot mixture screw.

It's not clear what is actually happening from your description. Not
turning over? Chugs but no fire? If your are experiencing no
response from the starter then take a look under the black plastic
cover on the left side. I had a similar problem when I first bought
the bike and it was the starter solonoid connection. I would also
double check the battery connections. If it turns over OK then start
looking at the air filter and fuel delivery.

starting problem

My A16 4,600 miles has developed a starting problem. Won't take the enough
gas without dying until the throttle is feathered with the choke on and then
reduced to half way until the engine is fully warm. Runs fine after that.
Never had any starting problems until now.
Any thoughts appreciated!

So a few weeks ago I was having intermittent starting
problems. But I learned that I could turn my bars to
the right and about halfway the starter would catch.
Not so last night. When I had to push start it. This
is in neutral, clutch in or out, nada.
The other oddity is that the turn signal relay buzzes
now. Maybe it always did, but now I notice it, since
my motor isn't starting. So key is on, hit turn
signal and there is a relay buzz sound on the right
side of the tank.
Ideas?
