canada & french? (non klr)

Post by Desert Datsuns » Fri Jul 12, 2013 9:10 pm

We've had some bad experiences in Quebec. The distance from the border isn't neccesarily the key either. Some people absolutely refuse to speak English, even though they can. Their attitudes towards people who do not speak French can be worse than if you were actually in France, and that's bad. I've been to France too. For example, at a Subway restaurant in Quebec the girl behind the counter was speaking fluent English to a friend who was ordering food, but when it was our turn to order she acted like she didn't know any English, even though we just heard her speak seconds ago. Ordering at other food places had similar results, as many act as you have totally inconvenienced them by patronizing their establishment. It's almost as if Quebec and the rest of Canada are two seperate countries. Even Canadians feel this way. They also have their own weird laws too, many of which are business related, but it still shows how they can be difficult to deal with. The rest of Canada is great. I really enjoy going to the other provinces. I just wouldn't go to Quebec by choice, I'd choose another place to visit. That said, Sault St. Marie is somewhere you'd want to visit in summer, because the winters are unbelievably cold. Been there, done that. 2 gig of web use??? (nonklr)

Post by mark ward » Mon Jul 15, 2013 10:46 am

Looking at a small step up on my phone, for when traveling. One offer is 2 gigs a month. I would mostly use it to search for Motels/campgrounds And Checking the Weather. (NO Movies, music, games etc.) Weather, I like going to Weather underground and using the Animated maps. (Animated: shows the clouds moving, so you can judge timing and direction) I know (now) 2 Gigs is about 200-300 pictures, But NO Idea of web use.
