Amazing reading way back there when the list was being founded. Not sure when I 1st joined this list. Probably somewhere's around '02. I know I stopped by Fred's place in '04 on my way back from Washington State on my R1250GS.

Wow! on book 6 of the times back in 1997. Just starting to mention the gathering at Moab. I had already sold my '92 KLR and was riding a '95 R11GS at that time with a DR 350 SE as my second bike.
Really interesting reading about the guy that was building hot rod KLR engines. Up to a 770 with 70 horsepower and 50 on the torque. Think he had clocked his bike at 130 mph. Course with the engine in a different chassis and 17 inch wheels weighting in at about 400 lbs. I wonder if this guy Steve is still around and building engines?
Oh, to add to the amazing oil thread. Castrol 10-40 in winter and 20-50 in summer with 2 to 3 thousand on miles till change on the KLR 650. Been on that stuff since the late '70's.

Steve Kesselring is still around and has changed his business slightly aiming more toward car and suspension performance.

Steve has gotten out of the big bore kits but was one of the first to do this with the KLR many years ago. If you contact Steve tell him Fred from Arrowhead said hello.

The Dual Sport News publication became ADVMoto (Adventure Motorcycle
Magazine) soon after Carl Parker took over as Publisher. It is available in
either print or digital subscription. The digital subscription includes
PDFs of back issues (including DSN) to 3/2009, downloadable when you log in
as a subscriber. This is the info on the Gino Years:
All issues below this point are on the CD (The Gino Years) which is
available for $19.95 domestic and $21.95 US everywhere else. (Notice: The
material contained below here/on Gino Years CD is now considered
significantly dated therefore the information contained therein may be
expired, invalid, or incomplete.

Like rotating car tires.
I was told yr's ago, (& not practiced) that you should flip your sprockets, every 2000-3000.
(oil change good timing.)
so they wear more even and not bend over so much.
Opinions?........GO!!!!!!!!!

The Disk I have was created on 3/26/2001 and I had bought it about that time.
Info on the disk read me file was
Gino Pokluda started Kawasaki 650 Dual Sport News (K650DSN) in the spring of 1996. In the fall of 1998 the name changed to Dual Sport News (DSN) and by the end of 1999 responsibility for DSN fell to Kurt Simpson. This CD contains the 14 issues of K650DSN and first six issues of DSN published by Gino Pokluda. Kurt Simpson has further edited the issues. Starting with the October 2001 issue Toby Lampson has taken over the editor functions for Dual Sport News.
I never met these guys in person but communicated with them many times via internet.
