squeaking hub

Post by Alfred » Thu Mar 28, 2013 7:34 am

Just mounted a Pirelli Scorpion Trail on the rear. Now I'm getting a loud consistent squeaking. There is 11K miles on my '05. I checked the 3 rear bearings and they seem fine. The alignment seems correct. I lubed the axle w/ grease. The rear brake pads are low but still have meat, and the noise doesn't change when applying the rear brake which stops the bike ok. Misplaced my Clymer manual, so thinking, is this rear pads telling me its time to change even though they are still within spec?

squeaking hub

Did you have any parts left over when changing out the tire? Is the spacer between the wheel hub and the sprocket hub still there? Sometimes setting the sprocket hub down will dislodge this spacer and it will fall out. If you assemble the sprocket hub to the wheel hub without this spacer it may work ok for a while but eventually your bearings will be toast. Ask Mr. Mumford all about this. For dress clothing, and "tuck in" shirts I have a spandex (kind of) T., and on each side of my chest (rib cage) a very well padded stronger material. with deep pockets. Sold where Police (security ETC) buy clothing in town. (may be?? 5-11 brand) they also have full "BUTTON" up shirts, that the buttons are realy SNAPS, just pull at the "button opening and you are In. As said below in about 38 yrs. I only had to show 4 times. Once was getting off the freeway looking for gas at 1am (out of state) and while one guy was ACTING polite, (excuse me sir?) walking kind of fast, I just need to borrow a few dollars for gas, my daughter is in the hospital. 3 others were closing in from the sides. Well, coming from Flint Mi. (#1 on murders in the USA) and often around Detroit, Baycity, Chicago etc. I was watching my Peripheral real well (habit) with out turning my head. I asked politely 3 times Please do NOT approach me, On the 3rd I lifted my shirt and stated, "I WILL DEFEND MYSELF". The one guy maid a motion with his hand and they all backed off. Funny part, when I first when in the store/station to get a coffee and pay, 4 cop cars were there, getting gas, coffee etc. Timing!!!

If I have a jacket on , it in there. If a t shirt in my tank bag. Both places it's ready to rock and roll. Also have a CCPermit for Louisiana. If it ever comes down to the time you need to use it, you want something that works to deter what ever. Only twice in my years of travel on a bike have I ever had to just show I was armed to deter an outcome. Once in South Texas and once in South New Mexico. It's kinda like me carrying flat fixing stuff and an air pump on both my bikes. Hope like heck you never have to use it but want it with you just in case. When I use to do the big events , Sturgis, Daytona, New Hamshire, Lake George and many BMW rallies all over the USA, I never had any need for a weapon except for my cute smile and cajun accent. ;-) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
